Registration
In order to buy or sell books through bluebo.co.uk you must first register as a member. The process is quick and easy and should only take a few minutes.
To register simply fill out and submit the registration form. This form captures enough information to allow you to log onto the site, sell and order goods. We ask for your telephone number so that we can contact you quickly if there is a problem with your order. Your username will be used to log on to the site and all correspondence will contain it and be sent to the email address entered. You will also be asked to enter a password for security, which must be kept safe and not disclosed to anyone.
Persons under the age of 18 are unfortunately not eligible to use our services and must not attempt to register.
Once you've registered you can start buying and selling items and start benefiting from the bluebo.co.uk community. You can also update or change your details or register an alternative delivery address at any time by using the member's administration section.
How does the Born Free Foundation benefit?

One of the core ideas behind the development of Bluebo was to find a way in which, through simply running our business, we could have a positive influence in our world. To do this we felt that the best way was to let you, the user, contribute with every book sold. It's very much a win win situation. You make a sale, turning a dusty book into some cash whilst a portion of the sale is donated to a campaign dedicated to the betterment of our planet for future generations. Each book sale will result in a monetary donation of 10p to one of the Born Free campaigns chosen by the buyer at the time of purchase.
Security
Bluebo.co.uk is committed in providing a safe and secure site.
All personal records are held on our secure server and not released to any third party without your expressed permission. The only correspondence we will send you will be related to purchases or listings that you are involved in, and the occasional newsletter. Bluebo will never release or pass your email address to third parties. When buying books, we release only enough information to the seller to enable them to dispatch the item/s (delivery name and delivery address). Remember you may enter different delivery details to that of your registered name and home address.
Your credit card information is handled within PayPal’s fully encrypted and secure environment and is at no time visible to any third party. Your monetary transactions are with the internationally recognized PayPal system so not even bluebo.co.uk has access to your bank details. In the event of a cash out request, bluebo will ask for bank details in order to deposit your money. However, should you wish to be paid out via cheque or other means we will arrange this with you.
How to buy a book
Once registered, browse our bookstore – made simple through our advanced search functionality. Note that you can enter keywords and the site will return all instances found. For instance, if you are looking for "Shout at the Devil" by Wilbur Smith, entering "Shout" into the search string will return the book along with any other books with "Shout" in the title. You can also browse our bookstore by category. When you have found the book that you are looking for you will be presented with a book summary. You can either click More Information to learn more about the book or simply Add to Basket.
Once you have made your selections you can go to View Basket where you will be shown a list of the books you have selected together with any additional delivery charges. Many of our paperbacks have free delivery - look for the free delivery symbol in our catalogue of books. It is only when books are thicker or heavier than a standard size paperback that the difference in postage costs is added as delivery charges.
When you are happy that your shopping basket is correct please proceed to checkout. When you click on checkout you will be asked to select a Born Free Campaign that you would like your 10p donation to go to as well as the delivery address you would like your purchase to be sent to. Please select from the dropdown boxes and continue checkout.
If you have enough funds in your bluebo account for the transaction to take place you will be asked to confirm that you want to finalise the transaction. If not, then you have the option of topping up your bluebo account or using one of several payment options.
When you have finalised your transaction the total order amount will be debited from your bluebo account and you will be sent a confirmation email. The book/s will also now appear in the Bought section under My Books on your Account Page with the status shown as Pending. This status will change to Sent on, along with the date it was sent, once the seller has posted your book/s to you.
You really don't need much in your account to pick up some great deals. The easiest way is to list all those books you have lying around and proceeds from any sold will go directly into your Bluebo account - buying books needn't cost you a penny.
Payment options
We use the internationally recognised and secure PayPal to process our monetary transactions. Any topups or direct payments to be made using either debit/credit cards or your PayPal account will redirect you to the PayPal website where the payment will be made. The process is seamless and doesn't cost you anything. Payment details are passed securely between Bluebo and PayPal.
You will immediately see any deposited money reflect in your Bluebo account as soon as it's been successfully processed by PayPal. Please remember to select the Return to Merchant option at the end of the PayPal process as this confirms the payment and updates our system.
Gift vouchers
Why not send a friend a bluebo gift voucher using the Gift Voucher tab at the top of your screen? Simply enter your name, the recipients name, the recipient's email address and the gift voucher amount, along with a message into the voucher form.
An email will be sent to the recipient with a link to the bluebo.co.uk website together with a 'voucher code' allowing him/her to add the voucher amount to their bluebo account. If they don't have a bluebo account, all they need to do is simply register and the amount will be credited to their newly created account. Then they too can take advantage of our great prices whilst helping to make a difference in our world.
Cancelling an order
You are free to cancel your order, without any justification to ourselves, so long as you cancel it before the status changes from Pending to Posted in the Bought section of My Books on your Accounts page. An email will have been sent to you when the status change occurred.
To do so, please send us an email. The cost of the book will then be re-credited to your bluebo account.
If the item has already been posted (i.e. the status is shown as Posted) then the order can not be cancelled.
Wish List
You can add items to your wish list in one of 2 ways. Either add items to your wish list by entering in specific ISBN numbers, titles, author's names or use the Add to Wish List function when browsing the list of books in Bluebo's bookstore. To enter in specific criteria for your wish list use the Wish List function at the top of the page (next to View Basket). You are also able to place a specific category on your wish list using this function. For example: You might want to be informed every time an item gets listed under the History category.
You will be notified by email as soon as an item is listed on Bluebo that matches your wish list criteria.
There's a problem with the goods
If you have any concerns over the quality of goods received or if the goods are not what you ordered, please inform us by email of your concerns. If the item has been mis-represented by another Bluebo user then please send the book directly to Bluebo at, The Old Bakery Cottage, The Green, Pirbright, Woking, GU24 0JE and we will endeavour to replace the item or credit your account. We will make judgements on each individual case and contact the user directly.
Listing a book for sale
Listing a book for salePlease read the section on Book Condition under For the Seller in the help menu prior to listing books on our site. When you have done this and are satisfied that the condition of the book is acceptable simply enter the ISBN details into our smart scan database, which will then attempt to match it to several database sources and retrieve further details. You will then be presented with the book details that have been retrieved. We require you to enter the Format, Category and Publishers Price on the right hand side if not correctly retrieved. In some cases an incorrect image or incomplete book comments may be retrieved by our system. For the former, please deselect the Use this image checkbox - the book will be submitted with a missing image icon. Bluebo will then endeavor to process these books by means of batch updates and retrieve the correct image and book comments. Pricing- Your Price: We give you the capability to decide on price using the Your Price field, however we recommend (and default to) a price of £3.75 for all paperback books. In order to maintain our price promise we will however limit the price to a maximum of 60% of the publishers price
- Additional Delivery Charge: You will, at this point, be given the opportunity to add additional postage charges should you need to.
The seller pays postage for all paperback books of a standard size. As many paperback books are thinner (<25mm) and lighter (<250g) than the stipulated size for a ‘Large letter’, the postage of 55p is easily covered by the money that bluebo pays for every book sold. Should the thickness or weight be greater and therefore incur a higher postage cost, we enable you to add the difference in cost to the price of the book as delivery charges. Please see ‘Postage Costs’ in the help menu for further details. - Lowest Price Listed: This is the lowest Bluebo Total that has been listed for this book by other bluebo’ers.
- Amount to You: This will be credited to your Bluebo account on the sale of your book.
- Shelf Position: The cheapest book listed will be the first available for sale. Should there be 2 books of the same price, then the one that was listed first will be sold first. This is how we determine your ‘Shelf Position’. A number 1 indicates that your book is the first book in line for sale, 2 the second and so on.
If you are happy that the details shown on our system are correct then click the "Confirm Details" button to continue. Remember that you are able to change these details in the View/Edit a book section under My Books on your Account page.
Book Condition
It is important that only books of acceptable or better quality are listed on bluebo.co.uk. Please be honest about the quality of the book as it is important to us that all our buyers are satisfied with their purchases.
The seller is responsible for accurately determining a condition of book for sale on the site. Should there be a complaint regarding the condition of a book, bluebo will refund the cost of the purchase to the buyer. The book will then be returned to the seller together with all costs incurred. Bluebo reserves the right to disqualify members and close accounts should they consistenly breach this rule.
What we mean by Acceptable: Minimal damage to the cover. No missing pages, all are intact with possible minor damage (creasing and staining). Minor writing on inside cover. I.E. a well read book but that still has some distance to go.
How do I know it's sold?
When a buyer selects and purchases a book that you have registered for sale, Bluebo will send you two emails:
The first is called the Sales Notification, which informs you of the sale and specifies the order number, the name of the book, and the details of the buyer including the address to which the book should be sent.
The second email is to be printed out and sent together with the book (You may write the details included in this email on a piece of paper if you don’t have access to a printer).
The book will also appear in the Sold section of My Books on your account page with the status displayed as Pending.
Please dispatch the bought book within 3 working days of receiving the Sales Notification.
Postage costs
The seller pays postage for all books sent. As many paperback novels are thinner than the stipulated 25mm for a ‘Large letter’ and fall in the 101-250g, the Royal Mail 2nd Class postage cost of 60p is easily covered by the £3 that bluebo pays for every book sold. Should the thickness or weight be greater and therefore incur a higher postage cost, we enable the seller to add the difference in cost to the price of the book as delivery charges. Please see the table linked to at the bottom of this form for these additional charges.
You will be given the opportunity to add any additional postage charges when listing a book for sale.
To ensure the best rates are obtained when posting books, we recommend all thinner books (up to 25mm) are posted in strong ‘Manilla’ type envelopes and sealed with tape, and not sent using padded envelopes. This will prevent extra thickness being added to the book, and will enable the book to be posted as a ‘Large letter’ instead of a ‘Packet’ and hence will be cheaper to send.
Elevated postage costs will be checked by the site and may result in negative feedback and exclusion from our user list.

Carefully Wrap and Clearly Label Your Packages
- Prepare a professional, clean package. Seal the package carefully and wipe away any dust or debris that may have collected on the book before packing for delivery.
- Label the package with a complete return address in case it needs to be returned
- Prominently label the package with the message, "Your Bluebo.co.uk order."
- Send the book using second class post. We recommend that you ask for a free certificate of posting, which enables compensation to be paid if the book is lost or damaged in transit.
- Include your return address in the packing envelope.
Remember: Prepare and post your sold book the way that you would like to receive it.
NBIn addition to the Sales Notification email being sent to you, any books you have sold will appear in the Sold section under My books on your account page. The status of the book will appear as Pending. Once you have sent the book you need to confirm this by clicking on the book posted link to complete the transaction. You will be prompted for a date. The status will then change to book sold on - and the date that you specified.
Failure to confirm that the book was sent may result in the order being cancelled and/or you not receiving the funds for the sale.
Payment into my account
Only once you have confirmed you have sent a book by clicking the appropriate ‘sent’ button in the sold section of My Account will Bluebo credit your account with the amount agreed upon at the time of listing the book for sale, plus any additional postage charge that you may have stipulated.
Failure to confirm that the book was sent may result in the order being cancelled and/or you not receiving the funds for the sale.
Removing a book
This may be done very simply. Go to the View or update option under My Books on your account page and use the Remove function that can be found at the far right of each book displayed.
Please note that if a book remains unsold for more than 6 months it will be removed from our bookstore and an email will be sent to you to inform you of the change
What if I'm going away?
If you're going away and will be unable to post the books that you have listed, simply enter the dates that you will be travelling into the Going Away section of your accounts page. All books that you have listed will be removed from our system between these dates so you will not have any orders coming through.
You will retain your listing order as soon as the specified break dates have passed. In other words, if you were the first person to list a specific book, yours will still be the first to be sold, provided the sale takes place outside of the dates you have specified that you will be away for.
Editing book information
Go to the View or Update option under My Books on your account page and use the Edit function that can be found at the far right of each book displayed. Additional postage charges can be added on this page.
