Find a Book | Sell a Book | Wish list | View basket | My account

30 April 2007

The new pricing structure is in place... One which we feel is flexible (and fun) and one which seems to be unique:

This is how it works...

You list a book on Bluebo, and, just as before, we will extract data for the book and assign it a default price of £3.75. However, you, the user now have the ability to change this price, either up or down as you see fit. Bluebo will display all monetary information applicable, including the actual amount that will be credited to your account should you sell your book. In order to maintain our price promise we do not however allow you to list a price higher than 60% of the publishers’ price.

Now for the unique part…

Bluebo will then compare the price that you have requested with the prices that other users have submitted for the same book and display to you a “Shelf Position”. This is your position in the queue of books to be sold. The lower the shelf position, the earlier your book will be sold, (a number 1 here means that your book is next in line to be sold). You can watch your shelf position change as you edit the price of your listed book. So, if you want your book to be the first sold then simply price your book to be the least expensive copy in our system. If two users list the same book at the exact same price, the first to list the book, (date/time wise) gets higher shelf position priority.

This is a very fair and exciting way to list your books. It allows you to list every book that you have, from cheap children’s books right up to the most expensive text books. If yours is the only book in our system it will obviously hold a number 1 shelf position, however, if there are more copies available then you go head-to-head with your fellow Blueboers to get the first sale.

Go on, get in there, list some books, have some fun and help the Born Free Foundation.

21 April 2007

Bluebo launches! After plenty of caffeine and mental gymnastics, bluebo finally goes live. Initial feedback from our users is great. Everyone loves the site, the Born Free Foundation is very excited and we have a phenomenal strike rate of people listing with us. However, we ascertain that our pricing structure needs a small amount of work as there are cases where the cheaper books are working out more expensive than the publishers' price. So, we have come up with a revised pricing structure and are working tirelessly to get it implemented. We thank you for your understanding in these initial first few days. For those of you who have listed books, we will be sending you an email to inform you of the new structure, (and perhaps a small incentive to continue listing :-) ).

Anyway, that's all for now. I will continue to keep you posted.

Your bluebo administrator:

Jason

Remember, our opening special... bluebo will deposit 50p into your account for every one of the first 8 books that you list... This means that you can purchase your first book without spending a penny. Yes, it's true, your first book absolutely free.

Hurry though, this special runs for a limited time period only.
